Mountain Engagements - Palomar Mountain

Sarah and Brian are getting married this week in the mountains in Utah, so it only seems right to put up a blog from their engagement shoot. We started roaming the mountains of Palomar mountain, making our way through the forest and exploring the color change as much as possible here in San Diego. We can’t wait to capture their wedding this Saturday. Follow along on our Instagram for all the details!

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?

A: Brian and I met at the restaurant I manage! I was working behind the bar at the time. He used to come in to study, and we really took a liking to each other, as friends, or so I thought. We were super good friends at first- I loved when he came in because he was so nice, and just a great person. He started coming in more and more to just see me, started waiting til we closed and insisting on  walking me to my car. He asked me out almost everyday for 6 months but I continued to tell him I just wanted to be friends. However, at a country concert one night, he asked another girl there for her number in front of me- and I got super upset, and realized I DID have feelings for him! It’s been the greatest love ever since. Later, he told me he asked for the girls number in front of me on purpose hoping I would realize I did want to be more than his friend!

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?

A: We love country concerts and road trips, big or small! We’re both super busy people, so we will make a day or two off even into a road trip somewhere! It refreshes us and is our way to “getaway together” as much as possible! We’ve even picked country concerts out of town/ state and made road trips to them.

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)

A: I knew he was the one after being “officially together” with him for about a month. All in the way he treated me. He’s consitantly made me feel like the most important, most loved girl in the world- and that’s super important to both of us. Showing each other the respect and love  we both deserve ❤️

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?

A: Brian proposed to me at the perfect time. I was super busy with work, we had just opened our 3rd restaurant! I had my first day off work in about a month- since it was my nephews 3rd birthday party. All my friends and family (who are super important to me) were at my nephews 3rd birthday- it was the perfect day. We drank sangria, played a baseball game in the park, and all hung out. Afterwards we were all going to meet at a brewery we frequent, but Brian insisted on taking me for one drink together first since we needed some alone time. Turns out the drink was a tailgate he packed, and he proposed to me while playing “Look after you” by the Fray- my favorite song! We went to the brewery after, and he and my friends had planned a huge engagement party for us :)

Q: Tell us all about that ring!

A: It’s perfect! Pear shape, single halo, with a thin, plain band! I couldn’t have asked for better!

Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?

A: Our wedding is in 4 days now and couldn’t be more excited! We rented 4 cabins in the mountains of Utah- All my friends and family will stay in these cabins, and we’re getting married in the backyard. They are the ones who taught us how to love, so CHEERS to them! I can’t wait for everyone to all be together, for such an amazing reason. We are so glad we connected with Brittney and Andy (Astray Photography) being located in San Diego, we were searching for local San Diego wedding photographers, and when we found out they were destination wedding photographers as well, we were so excited to hear they could make it out to Utah for our wedding.
