Exploring Glacier National Park

This past week we packed our bags and were off to Montana, exploring Glacier National Park and wandering into Whitefish. This place has been on our bucket list for several years and can say that it exceeded all expectations. Here’s a look in photos on our trip, and a few places we highly recommend hitting if visiting this part of the country, enjoy :)

Upon flying into Kalispell and picking up our rental car, we were off to The Many Glacier Hotel in East Glacier. Roughly 2.5 hours later we were blown away when we arrived down a dirt road to our hotel.

The hike to Lake Grinnell - From Swiftcurrent Lake, directly in front of the Many Glacier Hotel their is a boat service that takes you across two separate lakes. From there you have the option to hike to several different parts of the back country including the base of Lake Grinnell or upper Grinnell where you are at the top of the Glacier. With two little kids we opted for the mile hike and enjoyed the mineral blue water and almost isolated lake views.

After a few days in the Switzerland of America, we made our way to Lake McDonald winding through The Going to the Sun Road. This hands down was the most beautiful drive any of us had ever been on and the views were unbelievable. If you thought the drive to Big Sur was rough, wait till you see this. Thousand foot drops on either side. There are servers hikes and trails to hit off this road so definitely make sure to scope them out through extensive research.

Lastly on our trip we stayed in Apgar at The Village Inn on Lake McDonald. The views from the living room and balcony were second to none and the 70’s vibe gave this hotel an extremely cool feel. This location is on the tail end and entrance to West Glacier so it was convenient to head into the town and grab dinner as well as head into the town of Whitefish which was about 40 minutes away.

Overall, this was a trip of a lifetime and highly recommend visiting for yourself. If you have any questions or ideas feel free to reach out! Even better, if you are getting married and looking to plan a destination wedding or elope we would love to be a part of the journey. We saw multiple elopements happening out here and could only dream of shooting in a location such as this.

If you made it this far, as always THANK YOU, hope to connect soon!
